Заполненная жидкостью измерительная система изменяет свой объем при перепадах температуры. За счет этого посредством механической трансформации срабатывает перекидной контакт. При негерметичности измерительной системы терморегулятор отключается. При занижении минимальной температуры датчика электрическая цепь также размыкается, однако автоматически замыкается при повышении температуры.
